Everyone Hates Katy Perry
Jill Sobule, who was the original artist to have a song called "I Kissed a Girl" back in 1995, is firing back at Katy Perry for stealing her song title even though Katy Perry claims that she came up with the title in a dream. Which is basically, you know, bullshit."In truth, she wrote it with a team of professional writers and was signed by the very same guy that signed me in 1995. "I have not mentioned that in interviews as I don't want to sound bitter or petty, because that's not me.
"Okay, maybe, if I really think about it, there were a few jealous and p***ed off moments.
"So here goes, for the first time in an interview... "F*** you Katy Perry, you f***ing stupid, maybe 'not good for the gays', title thieving, haven't heard much else, so not quite sure if you're talented, f***ing little slut." (Source)
Damn. I thought those Lilith Fair types were supposed to be all peaceful and loving and shit, but there's pretty much nothing even I can add to that. Maybe I should have been listening to Sarah McLachlan and Joan Osbourne in high school instead of all that goddamn, good for nothing punk rock.

Heheh! Good for Jill! I liked the original a lot (maybe that's because it came out during my college years), and wondered what the heck Sobule thought of all this. Now I guess we know.
Its an f***ing song. She made tons of money with it, so what? Timing is everything.
Jill Sobule is a bitter has-been who had to beg $75,000 from her fans just to release her last album ($1,000.00 each?) Katy Perry was only 10 or 11 when Jill's song came out and probably never heard it.
There is no such thing as "title thieving". Lots of songs have the same title. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant wrote a little song called "Stairway to Heaven" in 1971 for an outfit known as Led Zeppelin. In 1975, The O'Jays came out with a song called "Stairway to Heaven" written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.
Did Jimmy and Robert bitch? No. The two "Stairway to Heaven" songs are not even similar just like the two "I Kissed a Girl" songs aren't even close. The music, the lyrics, and even the take on the theme are different. Katy Perry's song has nothing to do with Jill's song except the title and Jill Sobule is no Led Zeppelin (Katy Perry is no O'Jays either).
With her statement, Jill Sobule is almost as lame as the Red Hot Chili Peppers with their Californication Lawsuit. Hey, Jill, did you know you thieved the name of your songs "Spiderman" and "Palm Springs" and "San Francisco" and "While You Were Sleeping" etc.
Hopefully, Jill was just joking. There are plenty of reasons Katy Perry sucks. This just isn't one of them.
