Michael Cera is a Prick
Now that Michael Cera is a Big Shot Movie Star, it's been reported that he's dumped his indie darling girlfriend Charlyne Yi, just as their new film, Paper Heart, hits theaters. Anyone want to play a game of Guess the Starletard he's banging next week?A friend tells Star magazine, "He's been with her since before he was superfamous, and now all these girls fawn over him. He's itching to date other people."
Yi is said to be heartbroken and the break-up comes just as the pair begin a promotional tour for their new movie, mockumentary Paper Heart. The source adds, "Charlyne is beyond sad. And the break-up is so much harder because she'll have to see him on tour." (Source)
Oh, and if you weren't aware, Paper Heart is a fake documentary about love in which Michael and Charlyne actually fall in love over the course of the movie. So basically, this is pretty much the shittiest way anyone has dumped anyone, ever. On behalf of women everywhere, I'm already planning on rubbing a picture of Lindsay Lohan's face and herpes on the crotch of my Michael Cera voodoo doll.

Acting well is a desideratum to a long, successful legitimate career. As I see it, he's thrown away a choice opportunity to act the face off of it. Either he would have to pretend that he wanted to continue with her, or she would have to go through a press tour playing down her disappointment. Evidently, it's the latter.
Cera, you don't just toss a job like that away.
Eh, I'm sure she's quite amusing, but that face of hers is much more "patootie" than "cutie," capiche? There's a reason she's only ever been cast as "Doobie-smoker #2's Weird Girlfriend" in Knocked Up.
Indie cred or not, Zooey Deschanel she ain't. That Cera kid, weird as he is, can do better.

Oh come on people. "Zooey Deschanel she ain't"? Really? Charlyne is a genuinely talented comedian who has such a unique sense of humor. No, she's not another pretty-indie-girl-face, she's a cute Asian chic who's hella funny and on her well way to having a crazy successful career. Deal with it.
That's great that Charlyne is so talented. Good for her. May she make America laugh for years to come. Doesn't make her any more sexually appealing.
I'm sure in the choice between Lisa Lampanelli versus Kristen Bell, we all know who would win. Except in your case, weirdo.
Am I the only one who read an interview with Ms. Yi where she specifically states that she and Micheal Cera are NOT going out and that it's a total fabrication? Is that just BS on her part?
I think she's really adorable and I bet they were super duper cute together. It was pretty dickish to dump her for the premiere of their movie.
That said, he's young, he's successful (though the hipster backlash is a'comin'), and he should be able to date around if he really wants. There's nothing wrong with breaking up with someone, but holding on to them because you feel obligated is unfair to everyone involved.
His timing really sucked though.
