Purpose: (Verb) Have as one's intention or objective.In a new interview, Joaquin Phoenix talks more about his new career as a hip-hop artist, which sadly is now looking to be 100% genuine. In the same interview, Joaquin also talks about his new, um, "look." Or non-look, whatever.
"I'm not going with a look. Part of it is in some ways, it's very hard, especially when you're talking about music, to get away from Johnny Cash," Phoenix said. "In some ways, I'm aware that I need to kind of, I need to alter that persona. I need to alter my public persona in some ways so that people are going to be open to receiving me for what it is that I'm doing now ...

It's not just a beard. There's also a fair amount of clothing torn around the crotch area and a bit of the old alcoholism bloat going on. If that's not a look, then tell that to the guy who panhandles outside the liquor store a few blocks away from me in West Philly. I hear he likes to refer to it as the "savvy vagabond," personally.

And he used to be so freakin' hot. When did the crazy over throw the talent? I don't get it. This could possibly go down as one of life's great mysteries. Like the Loch Ness monster, Big Foot, Joaquin Losing His Damn Mind...
'savvy vagabond' is my Monday through Wednesday look, because it goes well with a death stare, and laundry is a ripoff anyways.
He was good in the Johnny Cash movie but I think Johnny's fame must have went to Joaguin's head. I mean what else could have prompted him to go off the deep end and think he could rap. I just don't get it. He was a decent looking guy I just don't get the new look.

Just a beard? What about the gross hair? The weight gain? The indoor sunglasses? The ripped, filthy clothes? Dude, you're not fooling anyone. Put down the pipe! You ain't your brother...but you could be. And that would not be a good thing.
The grow-facial-hair-to-disguise-a-cleft-lip strategy might have worked for Stacy Keach all those years ago, but it's not working for Joaquin here. You could hide a small animal in that beard, but it'd just escape through that giant gap in his moustache.
