Did anyone else see Katie on Letterman last night? I honestly thought the whole living-under-the-thumb of Tom Cruise shtick was mostly hyperbole, but I remember "Dawson's" Katie, and the girl that was on Dave last night was nothing like "Dawson's" Katie. In addition to being powerfully, creepily slender, she's got this new air about her: Weirdly soft-spoken, overly toothsome, methodical in the way she presents herself, and really, really humorless. I'm not trying to make a joke here; honestly, she sounds and acts either like a Baptist minister with his hand on your knee trying to convert you or a complete Stepford. She sounded like one of those automated operators doing the beauty pageant circuit. I felt genuinely sorry for her; apparently, the Scientologists have actually removed her personality. She's an empty vessel programmed to smile and speak in banal platitudes. Somebody needs to open up a can of Bjork-ass on her, and snap that poor girl out of it.
