Relevant Defined
Having significant and demonstrable bearing on facts or issues.
Many thought the shotgun reaction to Don Imus' comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team were
maybe a tad overzealous. Damon Wayans on the other hand, who was a guest on "The -- wait for it -- View" Tuesday morning,
had quite a different opinion.
"At least I know where he stands. And you know what? When he called them nappy-headed ho's, I went, 'Wow, he's right!' "
That got the co-hosts and the audience shouting over each other, but Wayans said a person's reaction to a statement like that all depends on his or her perspective. "Black people at home are laughing right now," he said. "White people are going, 'That's not right!' It's all cultural."
Suffering from an apparent case of "diarrhea of the mouth," Wayans went on -- proceeding to attempt to put all of womankind in their respective "place."
Wayans said fewer women tend to men's "basic needs" these days.
"Women today, most women I run into, don't want to do the fundamentals," he said. "They don't cook. ... I make the money so she can make something to cook."
Now, normally if a high profile celebrity were to make comments to this effect, I would in turn remark that it sets a laundry list of civil rights back however many years. So, good thing this is
Damon Wayans we're talking about here. Wayans, whose last film credit consists of "Hey, That's My Ass! Penguin" in the direct-to-DVD release
Farce of the Penguins, somehow manages to be even less
relevant than a shriveled up old crazy white man. Hell, I'll be damned if I can even remember which Wayans brother we were talking about in the first place. Was it Dweenan Wayans? Or was it Shamon?
Exactly.
FINALLY, someone stands up for oppressed males everywhere.
