Cathartic DefinedProviding psychological relief through the open expression of strong emotions; causing catharsis.
Having completed her Insanity Tour '08 last week, Heather Mills
returned to TV Thursday morning, referring to her recent media rampage as "
cathartic." For those who may have forgotten, Pegleg the Gold Digger's antics last week included claims such as: bad publicity led her to contemplate suicide, she has received death threats, (okay, I kinda believe that one), she's in serious debt, Paul McCartney is greedy and cheap, daughter Stella maliciously destroyed their marriage, and supervillainous threats of alleged evidence which would purportedly bring down the McCartney empire.
Now that I think about it,
cathartic is maybe the last word I'd use to describe the rantings of a self serving, deranged bitch like Heather Mills. I don't even know what I would substitute in its place, since my thesaurus fails to come up with an antonym for
cathartic. All I know is that when I go to the liquor store and the crazy lady who smells like pee is standing outside yelling about how the Jews ruined America and Al Gore is a commie, the last thing I think is, "All that crazy screaming must really be providing her with psychological relief."
Update: Mills now has been
dumped by her divorce lawyers as well as her publicist.
One of the few things I remember from my psych classes in college is that catharsism (noun form?) doesn't really work to provide relief.
To quote Shakespeare:
"despair and die, you gold digging hooker, despair and die"
I might have paraphrased that despair and die part.
