Blight DefinedSomething that impairs growth, withers hopes and ambitions, or impedes progress and prosperity.
Just look at the cover of this week's
Entertainment Weekly. A cover devoted to the
writer's strike. You notice anything
off about it? Look closer. Notice that two people in the picture are writers -- talented television personalities who also happen to have extensive writing credits and belong to the WGA. And the other person? A goddamn
blight on society. Sure, a very pretty
blight on society, but a blight all the same. So, why the hell is
Skank Cancer front and center on a magazine cover devoted to the WGA strike? The only thing this lady ever writes is her signature on the back of very large checks she endorses before putting them in her bank account.
Seriously, the woman can't speak in public without writers -- she needs cue cards to make a phone call. If it weren't for the listed drinks on the wall behind the baristas, she wouldn't know how to order a beverage at Starbucks. Without a script, the woman just stares blankly ahead and smokes American Spirits waiting for someone to tell her what to say. The duct tape across her mouth is apropos -- she literally cannot speak without the writers; the best she can do is
hold up a bottle of perfume and smile dimly.
Hell, it may be the only great thing about the strike -- Katherine Heigl, temporarily at least, will be silenced.
Why do you hate Katherine Heigl so much exactly? Your hatred is pretty scary - you shoulder consider professional help.
